Did you know that Mary was somewhere between 13 and 16, when the angel visited her? That’s not very far from my age now. Can you imagine? Just cleaning your room and suddenly, BAM! An angel is telling you that you’re going to give birth! And not to just any kids, but to God’s Son! Pretty crazy, right? And yet, crazy as it is, it actually happened to Mary!
With all the things flying around in your head, it would be hard to think of an answer right away. “What will my friends think?” “Will it hurt?” “Will anyone believe me?” And yet Mary answered with a simple, “Yes.” No hesitations. Pretty amazing right?
That kind of thing takes 3 key virtues. Courage, faith and trust in God. Luckily, Mary possessed all those qualities. Can you imagine if Mary said, “Um, that sounds hard, no thanks.” I can’t. And I hope one day, like Mary, we will all be able to say yes to God’s plan for our own lives.
